DePuy (LCS Duofix™ Femoral Component) class action

Maurice Blackburn is conducting the DePuy class action in the Federal Court of Australia, ACT Registry, seeking compensation for people who have suffered an injury caused by the alleged failure of certain LCS ® Duofix ™ Femoral Components.

What are LCS ® Duofix™ Femoral Components?

The LCS Duofix Femoral Component is an artificial knee prosthesis that was manufactured by a UK based company, DePuy International Limited and distributed within Australia by Johnson & Johnson Medical Pty Limited.  In July 2009, DePuy and Johnson & Johnson conducted a voluntary recall of the LCS Duofix Femoral Component in consultation with the Therapeutic Goods Administration.  In the Hazard Alert by which the Duofix recall was announced, DePuy and Johnson & Johnson stated that Alumina particles were detected in the joint space of the component.  Alumina is a bio-compatible material used to roughen the internal surface of the implant during the manufacturing process.

Who is affected by the class action?

If successful, the DePuy class action will benefit all patients who have suffered injury in consequence of having a medical practitioner implant in them an LCS Duofix Femoral Component bearing one or more of the following product codes and descriptions:
