Walter Hawkins is a General Counsel and Practice Leader of the
Canberra office of Maurice Blackburn (previously Pamela Coward
Higgins). He has over 25 years experience specialising in personal
injury litigation. Walter has a particular interest in catastrophic
injury claims and injury claims from motor vehicle accidents.
Walter's specialist knowledge and experience ensures clients that
their interests are protected and their claims pursued
promptly.
Walter has worked with the Public Interest Advocacy Centre (PIAC)
in Sydney conducting large scale product liability litigation, and
also spent six years with a national personal injury firm.
For many years, Walter was the author of the Worker's Compensation
chapter of the Lawyers Practice Manual of New South Wales.
Walter is past President of ACT Labor Lawyers, member of Australian
Lawyers Alliance and the Civil Litigation Committee of the ACT Law
Society. He graduated from Macquarie University in 1985 with a
Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Law. In 2007 he obtained a Master
of Business Administration from the University of Canberra.
